Corrections Deputy on Leave as Everett Jail Death Investigation Continues

On September 17th, 2012 the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the identity of the man who died at the Snohomish County Jail in Everett, WA on September 14th, 2012 as 59-year-old William Charles Williams of Everett, WA. The manner of death is pending further study.

At this time, investigators have confirmed that Williams arrived at Snohomish County Jail at 10:17 p.m. Once inside, he became combative and corrections staff used two separate Taser applications with little result either time. After resisting, Williams was placed in a cell. He was checked on by a Corrections Deputy within minutes and found to be in physical distress. At 10:34 p.m. corrections staff called 911 requesting Everett Fire Department respond for aid and to notify them that CPR was in progress.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that one Corrections Deputy has been placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation.
