Everett-Snohomish Drivers Diverted to Hwy 9 or Lowell River Road as Year Long Construction Project Begins

August 4, 2012

Everett

If you frequently take the Hewitt Avenue Trestle to and from Snohomish or points east you’ll need to make some changes to your plans for the next few weeks. This weekend the ramp eastbound from the trestle to Highway 2 is shut down for culvert repair. That means you need to continue up the hill to Highway 9 and head south on 9 to get back to Highway 2 and the city of Snohomish. You can also take the Lowell-Snohomish River Road east out of Everett. This is the first of many weekend closures between the Hewitt Avenue Trestle and Bickford Avenue as crews prepare to build a new overpass at Bickford and Highway 2. You can click here for more details on the project which won’t be completed until late next year. If culvert replacement is your thing, click the above video for an animation on how the DOT replaces culverts.
