Police Blotter

The Hewitt Ave. Trestle was closed westbound for several hours Tuesday afternoon

Washington State Patrol Troopers arrested a 37-year-old Monroe man and booked him into the Snohomish County jail on suspicion of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after they had to shut down the Hewitt Avenue Trestle Tuesday afternoon. WSP Trooper Keith Leary says the man climbed onto the trestle at the west end over the Snohomish river. He then climbed over the railing and was hanging on the edge of the bridge. Here are a few tweets from Trooper Leary as he updated the situation.

Thousands of people were delayed and traffic on the east side of the trestle, highway 2 and highway 9 all backed up for hours. In addition to WSP Troopers, the Everett police patrol boats were in the Snohomish River and negotiators from both Everett and Monroe police departments also aided at the scene.
