Look for the yellow bag in the mail this week. Fill it with food and set it out with Saturday's mail

The Volunteers of America is looking for people to help with the annual letter carriers food drive. Volunteers are needed to help sort, load, and distribute food collected to the Snohomish County Food Distribution Center.

In Everett, help is needed at the Paine Field postal facility on 100th street SE as well as at the main post office on Hoyt. The first shift is 2:00pm – 4:00pm and the second, 4:00pm – 6:00pm. You must sign up online to volunteer. Click here for all of the details.

This annual food drive brings in about 50% of all of the food collected in our region for local food banks. And did you know that 1 in 5 people in Snohomish County will visit a food bank this year? The goal this year is to collect 350,000 lbs of food.

Even if you can’t volunteer, don’t forget to leave a bag of food for your postal worker this Saturday.  You will receive a yellow bag in your mailbox this week to fill with food.
