Here’s the update from Everett PD’s Lt. Robert Goetz on this morning’s car-motorcycle accident on SR526
The Everett Police Department Traffic Safety Unit is investigating a collision that resulted in the serious injury of a 24 year old Mercer Island man.
At about 7:35 a.m. today officers were dispatched to State Route 526 just east of Airport Road for a report of a motorcycle versus car collision. When officers arrived they found the motorcyclist seriously injured on the ground.
Based upon the initial investigation it appears that the motorcyclist had been transitioning from northbound Airport Road to eastbound SR526 when he lost control of his motorcycle and went to the ground. The motorcycle continued to slide across the highway and came to rest against the interior jersey barrier. The motorcyclist tumbled into the eastbound lanes of travel where he was struck by a Subaru driven by a 68 year old Mukilteo woman.
The motorcyclist was transported to Providence Hospital in Everett with very serious injuries.
SR526 was closed for about an hour as investigators processed the scene. The collision remains under investigation. No arrest made or citations issued.
–original post at 7:57am — Big problems in the morning commute near Boeing as eastbound 526 is completely closed at Airport road following a serious injury car-motorcycle accident. Traffic going eastbound 526 is being diverted onto Airport Road for now.
