Everett, Everett Fire

Two people, a man and woman believed to be in their 30s, were taken by aid car to Harborview Hospital following a fire at the Hampton Court Apartments at 11419 9th Place West this afternoon. According to Leslie Hynes, spokesperson for Fire District 1, the fire was reported about 12:15pm in an upper unit of a four-plex. According to Hynes, firefighters entered the unit and found heavy black smoke. Firefighters spotted two people in the apartment and rescued them. They were taken by separate aid cars to Harborview Hospital in Seattle reportedly in serious condition. Damage to the apartment was estimated at $30,000.00 to the structure and $10,000.00 to the contents. There appeared to be little exterior damage to the unit and Hynes says it was the only one affected. Investigators from the Snohomish County Fire Marshall’s Office and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office were investigating the cause and are expected to be there most of this afternoon.
