Everett, Police Blotter

The Everett Police Department is looking for whoever set fire to Broadway Auto Sales at 17th and Broadway this morning. Here’s the official Press release from EPD Sgt. Robert Goetz…

EVERETT, WA: Everett Police Arson detectives are investigating the early morning fire in north Everett as arson. At about 7:47 a.m. this morning firefighters were called to Broadway Auto Sales at 1630 Broadway Avenue for a report of smoke coming from the building.

Once the fire was put down police arson investigators were called to the scene to investigate. It appeared that one of the doors to the building had been kicked in prior to firefighters arriving. In addition investigators found evidence inside that indicated that someone had tried to remove the safe but were unsuccessful. It is possible that the suspect or suspects in this case started the fire in an attempt to cover up the burglary.

There was some graffiti on the exterior of the building that the owner said was not there yesterday. The graffiti included a disparaging remark about the police department and a racial slur. It has not been determined whether the graffiti is associated with the arson/burglary.

There are no suspects in this case so if anyone has any information regarding this incident they are encouraged to call the Everett Police Department TIP LINE at (425) 257 – 8450.
