Police Blotter

We were among the first to report that fatal Car-Pedestrian accident on the Boeing Freeway this morning. Everett Police say they are still investigating but, according to the following release from spokesman Robert Goetz, black ice may have been a factor as to why a man was on the freeway…

Everett Police Collision Investigators were called to the scene of a car versus pedestrian fatality collision this morning just before 5 a.m. on eastbound SR526 near Seaway Boulevard. Early indications are that a 56 year Mukilteo woman was traveling eastbound on SR526 when her vehicle struck the pedestrian in the roadway. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is unclear why the pedestrian was in the roadway at the time of the collision. Investigators are looking into the possibility that the man has just been involved in a single vehicle spin-out collision on the ramp from Seaway Blvd to eastbound SR526 that left a vehicle in the grassy median between the roadways. They’ll know more once the Medical Examiner positively identifies the pedestrian.

At this time there is no indication of alcohol or drug involvement in this crash. It also appears that the car/pedestrian collision was not weather (ice) related. The single vehicle spin-out however, may have been due to ice or slick roadways based upon the position of the car when it came to a stop.

Eastbound SR526 was closed for about 2 ½ hours while investigators did they’re work. During that time traffic was diverted onto city surface streets.
