My Everett News Questions from 2011 Still Waiting For Answers in 2012

Everett

There were several stories that My Everett News covered in 2011 that are still unresolved as we start the new year. We’ve put in requests to the powers that be for some answers. Here’s a review of what we’re waiting to hear about…

The arbitrator’s decision after fired Everett Police Officer Troy Meade files for binding arbitration with support of the Everett Police Officer’s Association. Meade was fired by Everett Police Chief Jim Scharf for violating Everett Police policy (in spite of being found not guilty by a jury in the shooting of Niles Meservey). That firing was upheld by Chief Kathy Atwood and Everett Mayor Ray Stephanson. Here’s the story on Meade’s rationale on why he didn’t deserve to be fired.

What caused the Christmas Eve fire at The Storehouse storage complex that killed Matthew J. Paulsene? The fire was reported shortly before 7am. It quickly grew to two alarms and destroyed most of one of the buildings at the multi-unit complex on Smith street. Click here for pictures from the scene.

Will a Snohomish County Sheriff’s Deputy be charged after shooting and killing Justin Gaswint on the 164th street overpass last July 16th? We followed up in November with Everett Police who were the lead investigators on the case as part of the S.M.A.R.T. (Snohomish Multi-Agency Response Team) Sgt. Robert Goetz says they are still waiting on lab tests and other forensic evidence from the crime lab. Goetz says that since the case is not in court, but in the processing stage, the priority of the lab work can be shifted up and down and they have to wait until the lab finishes before they can refer the case to prosecutors. The deputy involved has been returned to duty.

Other questions include whether the Snohomish County Prosecutor’s Office will seek the death penalty against David J. Pedersen and Holly Ann Grigsby in the murders of David “Red” Pedersen and his wife “Dee Dee” Pedersen back in September. The changes Ron Gipson will make to Everett City Council meetings as he takes over as President of the city council this Wednesday and if Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon will face charges as the Washington State Patrol continues an investigation into his use of county funds.

Feel free to contact us with questions you’d like asked about Everett in 2012. We’ll so our best to find the answers.
