Everett man not likely to survive after being shot in the head by his wife

The man shot in the head by his wife yesterday in the 2500 block of Chestnut is currently on life support. This afternoon during a probable cause hearing for his wife, who was arrested last night on charges of Assault 1st degree, Snohomish County Deputy Prosecutor Andrew Alsdorf told judge Tam Bui that the 42-year-old victim is not expected to survive his injuries. As the man’s 30-year-old wife refused to come to the probable cause hearing, judge Bui continued it until Tuesday afternoon at 1pm. The woman will remain in the Snohomish County Jail and is being held without bail. According to probable cause papers from Everett Police, the woman and her husband had been arguing for 15 – 20 minutes prior to the shooting. Everett Police also wrote in the probable cause papers that the woman stated she thought the gun was unloaded and she did not mean to shoot him. The woman has retained an attorney and could face murder or manslaughter charges if her husband does pass away.
