Downtown Everett Stand Goes From Hot Dogs to Gyros

Downtown Everett

Kay invites former hot dog lovers to try a Gyro or Falafel instead.

What used to be a hot dog stand across from Comcast Arena Everett is now serving Gyros and Falafel. “Kay” just recently opened Express Mediterranean Cuisine at the corner of Lombard and Hewitt Avenue. “It’s cheap, healthy and quick,” said Kay. “The concept was developed by me and my husband but the stand is all mine.” Kay tells me they’re from Portland and when they came up here she wanted to be self-employed. When the opportunity came up after the hot dog stand closed, she jumped at it. “People still think there’s a hot dog stand here,” she said. “But when they find out what I’m serving they go ahead and give it a try.” Open just a few weeks, the menu features dishes like Lebanese, Greek and Italian falafel, lamb and beef gyros and grilled beef or chicken Shawarma sandwiches. They’re open Monday – Saturday from 11am – 6pm.
