November 24, 2011

Everett Fire

A bedroom fire in the 2000 block of McDougall Avenue in north Everett caused about $15,000.00 in damage early this morning. According to Everett Fire Marshal Rick Robinson, fire was reported in a bedroom at a home where the resident was confined to a wheelchair. Police officers nearby heard the fire call, went to the house and were able to help the wheelchair bound resident out the front door. Firefighters arrived and quickly extinguished the fire which was contained to the bedroom. The rest of the house did suffer smoke damage. Robinson says the cause of the fire was a cigarette that had been dropped into combustible materials. Luckily, there were no injuries.
