Ever had a Yak burger? How about Emu? Antelope, Elk or Buffalo more your style? Well now there’s a restaurant in Everett that has your dish. Shawn Lloyd, a former techie turned foodie, has opened a brand new restaurant in downtown Everett that features exotic game meats as well as dishes with a Saipan twist. “Stuff What I Like” is what owner Shawn Lloyd calls an eclectic grillery. “I always wanted to open a restaurant that features menu items that are unique, good and hard to find elsewhere.” said Lloyd. He recently left a corporate job at a major software firm after tiring of the corporate grind. “It was more politics than geeking and I like to express myself through geeking or food.” Lloyd said, “Now I want to do food.” Lloyd says he wants people to discover the health benefits of game. With a much lower fat content than beef or pork he calls it freaky healthy and so flavorful. “Most people will start off with Bison as they’re familiar with buffalo burgers.” Lloyd says, “Then they’re willing to get more adventurous and try venison, elk or antelope.” A lot of hunters have discovered the restaurant and are either offering advice or picking up cooking tips. As far as the Saipan influence, Lloyd says his mother was raised on Saipan and taught him how to cook dishes from her homeland that aren’t easily found in Everett. The restaurant is open daily from 11am – 8pm and located on Colby Avenue right next to the Historic Everett Theatre. They also are big supporters of Everett’s monthly art walk and feature works from a different local artist every month. You can discover more on their website here.
