Smokey Furnace Fire in Lowell
Firefighters enter through smoke to check for fire damage
A fair amount of smoke but not too much damage after an oil furnace caught on fire this morning on Biglow Avenue in Everett’s historic Lowell neighborhood. Homeowner Wayne Jensen told me that his furnace popped off about 1:30 this morning. Then shortly after 8:00am, he woke to multiple pops from the furnace and the house filling with smoke. He found the oil furnace was malfunctioning and called 9-1-1. The actual fire was contained to the area around the furnace but there was smoke damage throughout the house. “I had just cleaned the carpets yesterday and had the furnace turned up last night to help them dry.” said Jensen. No word yet on the damage estimate.
