Indoor Football Coming Back to Everett

Everett, Everett Sports

It looks like indoor football will be coming back to Everett next year. Back on August 25th we reported that the owners of the Seattle Timberwolves, who play at the Showare Center in Kent, were looking to put a team at Comcast Arena Everett for the 2012 season. A Tuesday morning press conference has been called at Comcast Arena Everett to announce their newest tenant. Earlier this month the members of the Everett Public Facilities District said they had been closely reviewing the proposal for indoor football and that the owners of the Seattle Timberwolves had provided a letter of credit and made other assurances that they would be committed to a top notch experience for indoor football fans in this area. The franchise would play in the Pacific Division of the Indoor Football League. In August, Timberwolves owner Mike Barry told me the plan at that time was to have the Seattle Timberwolves go dark for the 2012 season while a new team is developed in Everett and then the Timberwolves would come back in 2013. It’s not unusual for an IFL team to go dark for one season. Earlier this year the Wenatchee Valley Venom announced they would go dark in 2012 while they re-organized. The new Everett team will have to be flexible with their dates. During February, March and April the Everett Silvertips, Washington Stealth and major concerts have priority over the indoor football team when scheduling dates.
