4.3 million dollar rail project begins tomorrow

Amid a rash of negative news in Everett’s employment situation lately, the Port of Everett is creating more than two dozen construction jobs as work begins on a rail recovery line next to the Port’s shipping terminals. A 2500 foot rail line will connect the shipping terminals to the nearby railroad tracks that will allow loading of cargo directly onto rail cars and reduce reliance on trucks while increasing the shipping capacity of the Port of Everett. That’s important if a natural or man-made disaster affects the Ports of Seattle or Tacoma. The 4.3 million dollar project is being paid for with a combination of state and federal dollars.
