Buying movie passes for drug court participants and the failure to audit the spending of more than half a million dollars by a grant recipient raised concerns with the State.
In a 114 page report released today by the State Auditor, Snohomish County was cited with significant deficiencies in design or operation of internal control over major federal programs. The three areas of concern listed were (1), Community Development Block Grant Program administered by the Snohomish County Human Services Department. (2), Snohomish County Superior Court and use of Federal Funds for drug court participants and also travel funding for staff to attend conferences and (3), Disaster Grants and Public Assistance under the Public Works Department and its methods for inventory control. Many other programs audited by the State were found to be in compliance with no findings or issues. If you find the 114 pages too daunting to go through, here’s a link to the 13 page Schedule of Federal Findings and Questioned Costs.
