Everett Mayor on Pacific Rim Gymnastics…”I Love This Sport Cause The Athletes Are My Height.”

Downtown Everett, Events in Everett

Local gymnasts are focusing on March 16 - 18 in Everett and will be selling tickets to support the event.

While Everett Mayor Ray Stephanson joked about his height yesterday during the press conference to announce Everett landing the 2012 Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships he was very serious about its economic impact. “I am so excited for our local restaurants, hotels and business community. We need that shot in the arm, especially during a traditionally slow time in March.” Stephanson was also excited about the media coverage, “This is one more opportunity for Everett to get into the international spotlight.” NBC Television is expected to carry coverage from the event on Saturday March 17th and journalists from around the Pacific Rim will also be filing reports from Everett. Ticket prices range from $110.00 to $250.00 for the three-day event. Tickets and seating charts on available now at the Comcast Arena Everett Box Office.

It’s really a shame the Courtyard by Marriott hotel planned for downtown is delayed and won’t be ready for this big event that should bring quite a few visitors from out of the area. Most of these folks will be driving into downtown instead of walking by more of our shops and restaurants. Everett really needs some place to stay that’s walkable to the Events Center & downtown core… besides the Travel Lodge.
