While Everett Mayor Ray Stephanson joked about his height yesterday during the press conference to announce Everett landing the 2012 Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships he was very serious about its economic impact. “I am so excited for our local restaurants, hotels and business community. We need that shot in the arm, especially during a traditionally slow time in March.” Stephanson was also excited about the media coverage, “This is one more opportunity for Everett to get into the international spotlight.” NBC Television is expected to carry coverage from the event on Saturday March 17th and journalists from around the Pacific Rim will also be filing reports from Everett.
