Car-Pole Accident Interrupts Power for 1000 at South End of Everett’s Silver Lake

July 25, 2011

Everett, Police Blotter

Editor’s Note: Mike Thorne is the spokesperson for the Snohomish PUD. Last night I spoke with Mike Thorne but typed Andy Muntz. (Andy is a spokesperson for the Mukilteo School District who worked at the PUD many years ago). My apologies to both men for the mix-up.

There were no injuries but power will be out for several hours after this Acura station wagon crashed into a power pole on Silver Lake Drive. The accident happened shortly before 6:45pm between 13th and 14th drive SE. Everett Police Officers at the scene were too busy to comment but according to the neighbors across the street from the crash, the car was driven by a young man. Snohomish PUD spokesman Mike Thorne tells me that 1000 customers were initially without power. At 7:30pm, 900 people got their power back but another 100 will be without power until the pole can be replaced which, Thorne says, likely won’t be until midnight. Everett street crews have closed Silver Lake Drive between 13th SE and 121st street SE.
