Everett City Council Unanimously Approves Medical Marijuana Cooperative Gardens, then Passes 12 Month Moratorium.

July 20, 2011

Everett, Everett Government

In spite of an hour’s testimony by 16 different people all asking them to not impose a moratorium, the Everett city council went ahead and did just that. There were two basic measures approved. The first, allowing medical marijuana cooperative gardens south of the city’s Lowell neighborhood. That’s the only area of Everett zoned for agriculture. The second puts a twelve month moratorium on those same gardens so the city can study the issue. The city maintains that there is nothing that the moratorium does that would keep people who have a right to use medical marijuana from doing growing their own. More in an update shortly.
