Everett’s Original Sports Bar Celebrates a Birthday

Sporty's Birthday Party is set for this Saturday July 23rd
What once was a Shakey’s Pizza Parlor back in the 60s and 70s, a church in the 80s and eventually Everett’s first sports bar, is about to celebrate its 11th anniversary under the ownership of Jack Comyn and Joe Ziskovsky. The longtime Everett fixture has actually been a sports bar for more than 20 years. Opened as Everett’s first sports bar in the Spring of 1990, Sporty’s was Everett’s original true Sports Bar. where you could get a drink, eat some food and watch a game on a tv or two or three. They also had batting cages and even indoor basketball. In 2000, Jack Comyn and Joe Ziskovsky bought Sporty’s from the original owners. Over the years, the two partners have expanded and refined the sports bar concept and introduced Everett to
Turkey Bowling,
Corn Hole Tournaments and in 2005, Sporty’s hosted competitive eating superstars Joey Chestnut and Eric “Badlands” Booker in a Wing Eating contest. (
