Suspect in SCSO Deputy Involved Shooting on 164th has Died — Update 8:20am

Lynnwood, WA: The Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team is investigating a Snohomish County deputy involved shooting that occurred about 5:30 a.m. on the 164th Street I-5 overpass.

The deputy stopped to talk to a pedestrian on the overpass. As the deputy got out of his patrol car the man charged the deputy threatening to kill him. A fight ensued. At some point during the fight the deputy shot the suspect once in the torso.

The suspect, 32 years old, was transported to Harborview Medical Center where he died. His city of residence has not been confirmed.

The deputy is 25 years old and has been with the Sheriff’s Office for more than three years. The deputy is expected to be placed on paid administrative leave, a routine procedure following these types of incidents.

The roadway is expected to be closed to auto and pedestrian traffic for several hours.
