Southbound I-5 Back Open After Fatal Crash Near 128th Street – 10PM Update

All lanes of Interstate 5 at 128th street are back open after a fatal head on crash at the peak of this evening’s commute. According to the State Patrol a Red Mitsubishi was northbound on I-5, just south of 128th street, when the driver lost control and crossed into and thru the median entering the southbound lanes of I-5 in the wrong direction. The Mitsubishi sideswiped one car before hitting a Dodge Durango head on. The driver of the Mitsubishi died at the scene and the Durango driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Traffic backed up for miles on I-5 in both directions as Troopers investigated the scene. No word yet on why the Mitsubishi crossed over the median.
