Police increasing patrols near Everett's High Schools

Vandalism and Threats at Cascade and Fires near Everett have the authorities stepping up patrols

As Graduation nears, there are increased concerns about safety at two Everett High Schools. Everett Police are looking for vandals at Cascade High and arsonists near Everett High. This morning at around 2:51 am Everett Police and Firefighters were called to Rockefeller Avenue behind the Everett High Gym after at least 4 fires were set. Two garbage cans, a couch in someone’s front yard and recycling bins were all torched. On Monday night someone damaged and spray painted over the Bruin Bear in the Courtyard at Cascade High, (not so unusual around graduation time), but they also painted threatening words in the courtyard. That led to a police investigation and today, Cathy Woods, the principal at Cascade High sent home a letter with students advising of increased police presence near the campus this week. She also provided the number of the anonymous safety tip line (425) 385-5050 that students can use when they see actions that threaten the safety of anyone. The exact threat has not been revealed, but between the incidents at Cascade on Monday and the fires near Everett High this morning, police and school officials are not taking anything for granted.
