Everett Schools Release More Specifics on Threat Made at Cascade High in Everett, WA

June 2, 2011

Everett, Police Blotter

I just got off the phone with Everett School Communications Director Mary Waggoner who tells me that due to all the rumors circulating and mis-information about the threats spray-painted at Cascade High earlier this week, Everett police have decided to release more information about the threats, not to alarm, but to clarify the situation. Apparently the Graffiti included a message that five Cascade students would be shot on Friday. No students were specifically named and authorities can find no connections to the message and any students at this time. Waggoner told me that if there are students or others who know anything about these threats that they are encouraged to call 9-1-1 or the confidential tip line at (425) 385-5050. Additional officers will be assigned to Cascade tomorrow but school will be held as usual. Waggoner says that any parent who feels there may be an issue of safety is free to keep their child home but should send a note with that student when they return to class. An updated e-mail and phone message will be going out shortly to parents who have kids attending Cascade High.

Waggoner also told me that the Principal at Everett High has sent home a message that the arson fires in the neighborhood behind the Everett High Gym appear to be a random act unrelated to the High School.
