WA Aerospace Training and Research Center at Everett's Paine Field

While they last, get a $2400 paid tuition voucher to learn Aerospace Manufacturing

The phones were ringing off the hook when I stopped by the Washington Aerospace Training and Research Center at Paine Field in Everett Friday afternoon. Seems they’ve received a grant that will cover the $2400.00 cost of tuition for qualified applicants in their Aerospace Manufacturing Core Certificate Program. You need to be 18 or older, be able to prove you’re currently receiving unemployment benefits, (you’ll have to show them proof from Worksource) be able to start the class on Monday May 23rd and continue thru June 16th with a final on June 17th. You’ll also need a computer with internet access. The course itself is done online but you have to apply in person at the Washington Aerospace Training and Resource Center at 3008 100th Street SW Everett  98204.

You can also find out more by calling 425-347-8928 and press “0” to speak with a live person. As of late Friday afternoon they still had about 60 slots open for the class that starts May 23rd.

One important note… This is only the first half of the process of getting a job interview with Boeing. There is a second course, The Aerospace Assembly Mechanic Certificate, that will be held this summer. You have to complete both the Core and Assembly Mechanic Certificates to qualify for an entry-level assembly mechanic position at Boeing. The Assembly Mechanic Certificate program also costs $2400.00 and currently there are no vouchers being offered but the hope is, by the time the class starts in July, vouchers will be available.

Boeing will guarantee an interview for anyone who graduates from both the Core Certificate and the Assembly Mechanic Certificate program. They won’t guarantee a job, just an interview.[ad#Google Adsense]
