Everett City Council President Won’t Seek Re-Election, At Least One Open Position This Fall, Maybe Two

Shannon Affholter won't seek re-election this fall. That leaves at least one open seat out of four on the ballot.
At this week’s Everett City Council meeting I asked the four members who were up for re-election this year if they planned to run again and here’s what I was told…Council President
Shannon Affholter who was first elected in 2007 said no, he’s not going to run.
Brenda Stonecipher who was elected in 2004 says she still hasn’t made a final decision but will announce one way or another soon.
Ron Gipson, who has served since 1995 says he will run for re-election and
Drew Nielsen, elected in 2004 will also run this fall for another term.
If you’d like to run for office and live in the Everett city limits, it’ll cost you a filing fee of $262.79.
