First hired in February of 1995, Everett Police Chief Jim Scharf is set to retire at the end of March. He says first up is a lot of cooking dinner for his wife and a long honey do list. I asked him what prompted him to decide to retire and after some thought, he told me, “You just know when its time, when you’ve accomplished your goals and you step aside and let someone younger take over.” With 16 years of service to the City of Everett and a long career at the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office including two terms as Sheriff, I was glad to catch him at the end of a recent city council meeting and ask him Five Questions About Everett.
