Charlie Sheen Sputters into Everett Tonight. May Have to Smoke Electronic Cigarettes to Avoid Fine

The Charity not Charlie campaign has wrapped up and another $100.00 donation will go to Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County. Thanks to all who participated.

Here are a few notes for those who decide to spend their money on Charlie.

Because Washington State law prohibits smoking inside Comcast Arena Everett, Charlie may be forced to smoke an electronic cigarette on stage instead of lighting up real cigarettes as he has in most of the other shows.

There are a LOT of tickets still available at prices way under face value. Here’s a listing of more than 100 sellers on Craigslist over the last two days.

Where will the scalpers be? According to Everett City ordinance you can’t sell tickets in front of Comcast Arena Everett or within a one block radius of the center.

Last night’s show in Vancouver BC was poorly attended and not very well received according to this review in the Vancouver Sun.

The Everett Police are treating this show like any other that comes to Comcast Arena Everett with no special plans to beef up security. Any incidents inside the arena will be up to Comcast to handle as they do usually.

Since its an all adult show with no one under 18 allowed to buy tickets, it will be interesting to see if there are people checking ID at the door to make sure no minors are exposed to warlock ramblings or tiger blood.

What jersey will Sheen wear onstage? Everett Silvertips? Washington Stealth? Everett Aquasox? Since the stop is billed as Seattle in most places, will it be Mariners or Seahawks?

Anyway, thanks for supporting Charity not Charlie and though I believe this show was a mistake, hats off to Comcast Arena Everett for the recent announcements of American Idol, Alan Jackson and KISS coming to town. Let’s hope for more soon.

Everett, WA Updates and Blog Redesign

April 23, 2011

Sorry for the up and down over the last few days, I think we’ve got most of the updates done and I hope you will enjoy the site and let others know that we have things here that you probably won’t find anywhere else. Speaking of that, here are a few updates that I haven’t been able to post due to the down-time for the upgrade.

Everett Cable Subscribers will save $1.00 a month beginning July 1st. After a lot of deliberation, the Everett City Council has decided to stop collecting the PEG fee from Comcast and Frontier for at least the next year. They also vetoed the Request For Proposal to buy nearly half a million dollars in equipment for Everett TV. The city of Everett administration and council are going to work together on defining the role and scope of Everett TV, what it should broadcast and how to pay for its operation. Once they do that, they’ll have more than 1.7 million dollars in the budget to get the ball re-started. The fee could re-appear in some form or another once all those decisions have been made.

No Raises for Mayor or City Council this year or next. The Everett Citizen’s Commission on Salaries of Elected Officials has set the salary schedule thru 2013. No raises for the Mayor or City Council members in 2011 or 2012 and in 2013 there would only be a raise if the Consumer Price Index moved up. For the City of Everett’s Municipal Court Judges, their pay is tied to that of Washington State District Court Judges. The City of Everett has provided the full salary schedule here.

“Charity Not Charlie” campain still going thru the end of the month. In 10 Days, Charlie Sheen’s My Violent Torpedo of Truth/Death is Not an Option Tour will hit Everett. RelyLocal Everett-Mukilteo is still encourgaing people to donate to the charity of their choice instead of spending money to see Charlie Sheen. At the end of the month, one person’s name will be drawn and a donation of $100.00 will be made to that person’s chosen charity.

Opposition Growing to Charlie Sheen in Everett – “Charity Not Charlie” Campaign Grows International

Donations to Everett and Mukilteo non profits are coming in from as far away as Vancouver, B.C.

It’s been interesting to see the uproar being caused by the announcement that Charlie Sheen is coming to Everett on May 3rd. Today, Julie Muhlstein in this morning’s Daily Herald had a column about the appearance sending the wrong message on drug abuse and reminding people that the show was for those 18 and over. Yesterday, Kristi O’Harran wrote, “Phooey on Charlie Sheen”. Also Yesterday Vancouver B. C. radio station News 1130 did an on-air interview with me and donations started coming in from Canada to Everett Charities. On Monday, after doing an on-air interview with them, KMPS Radio host Potter, of Candy and Potter purchased the domain name “CharityNotCharlie” and linked that to the RelyLocal Everett-Mukilteo page explaining the campaign and how to donate. Also on Monday, MyNorthwest.com reported tickets sales were slow. The media coverage started Sunday night when KOMO TV aired this story about the “Charity Not Charlie” campaign. Now I’m not against Comcast Arena in any way and have in fact followed and supported the arena since it was first proposed. I don’t think however that having Charlie Sheen in an “Adults Only – Must Be 18 to Purchase Tickets” performance is the best way to represent Everett. There are however people who think the show is great as shown here with an interview of the first person to buy tickets on Saturday. To each their own…

Give Your Money to an Everett or Mukilteo Charity…Not Charlie Sheen

Give Your Money to a Local Everett or Mukilteo Charity, not Charlie Sheen.

I’ve heard a lot of people express their surprise and for some, displeasure, about Charlie Sheen coming to Comcast Arena May 3rd. There’s been everything from “why is Everett welcoming that guy?” to people calling each other names for supporting or objecting to the appearance. My thought is there are better ways to spend your money so I went out and purchased some prizes and will be giving them away to people who donate to local charity groups, instead of buying tickets to Charlie Sheen’s Show. You can find all the details here or by clicking on the Charity Not Charlie logo. If you’re unhappy about Charlie Sheen at Comcast Arena Everett, make a donation to charity and you might win a cool prize package from RelyLocal Everett-Mukilteo.
