This Memorial Day from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM the Flying Heritage Collection salutes wartime heroes with parade, firing demonstrations, vintage tanks and activities; free admission for veterans.

TankFest Northwest is an all-day event that brings history alive for the community and honors the military innovations of the past, as meticulously restored WWII-era tanks and vintage artillery put on an explosive show for the crowd.

This year, three tanks from FHC – a new Sherman tank, a Soviet T-34 and Hetzer tank destroyer – will drive and fire, a rare Kettenkrad will zip about, and two vintage Flak guns will shoot during live demonstrations. The Puget Sound Military Vehicle Collectors Club will kick off the day with a festive parade, and private collectors will showcase a wide selection of rare wartime artifacts including tanks, a military motorbike, jeeps and trucks. Mobile Lunch Box will be at the event, serving up burgers and fries.

Here’s the release from Aaron Snell at Everett P.D.

The Everett Police Department arrested an 18-year-old man just before 5:00 p.m. on May 22, based on probable cause for assault of a child after he admitted to shaking and squeezing his 5-week-old daughter when she wouldn’t stop crying. The man was booked into Snohomish County Jail for assault of a child.

The investigation began on May 16, when Everett Police detectives responded to Seattle Children’s Hospital on a report of a possible assault of a child. Detectives learned the father, an 18-year-old Everett man, called 911 from his home in the 2500 block of Maple Avenue, when his daughter was having difficulty breathing and became lethargic. The daughter was transported to Providence Medical Center – Colby Campus in Everett but was moved to Seattle Children’s Hospital and was listed in serious condition.

During the investigation, the father told detectives his daughter was injured when she pushed herself up into his chin. He later admitted to vigorously shaking his daughter when she was fussy and wouldn’t stop crying.

The daughter remains hospitalized.

The case remains under investigation.

The 2013 show marks the 14th year for this event. Seattle Rod-Tiques car club has hosted the Annual Cruzin’ to Colby® car show over Memorial Day Weekend in Downtown Everett since 1999. The Sunday cruise and dance were added to the event in 2003.

This show has become one of the Pacific Northwest’s premier car shows. It draws more people into the Everett downtown core than any other single event on a yearly basis. Over the 14-year history this show has brought well over 190,000 people into downtown and we have raised over $140,000.00 for local charities.

Sunday the Cruise starts at 1 pm. Up to 400 hot rods and classic cars parade down Colby Avenue, the same Colby where cruising in Downtown Everett started over 50 years ago.

Monday, the Show and Shine opens at 8 am as the streets are lined with over 40 vendors and upwards of 800 cars depending on the weather. Live entertainment goes all day at the intersection of Hewitt and Colby as all the restaurants, retail shops, and bars “strut their stuff” for all the 1000s of spectators and participants. Make your plans to attend this spectacle!!!

The Seattle Rod-Tiques, a car club based in Snohomish County, as the hosting car club makes up the event committee. Countless volunteers and sponsors from the community and the City of Everett continue to support the show.

Planning for this year’s event began back in January, anticipating this year’s version to be the biggest yet. The volunteers begin each day at 5-6 am and do not stop running until late at night…quite an effort that many of the downtown business owners are very grateful for…especially in this economy!

As the Everett Clinic grew, Faulkner’s became the Everett Clinic Pharmacy. Today it was announced that Bartell Drugs is buying the pharmacy at 39th and Hoyt as well as another Everett Clinic Pharmacy in Marysville. Here’s the official press release:

Seattle-based Bartell Drugs has announced the purchase of two pharmacies, located in Everett and Marysville, from The Everett Clinic. The pharmacies will be operated by family-owned Bartell Drugs starting Monday, June 10.

Customers and patients with prescriptions at both pharmacies now have the added convenience of having them filled at any of Bartell Drug’s 60 locations.

The pharmacies are located in the Founder’s Pharmacy Building on the Clinic’s Everett Campus (3901 Hoyt Avenue, Everett) and at the Marysville Clinic (4420 76th St. NE, Marysville). Both are pharmacy-focused but also offer a limited inventory of over-the-counter medications, “essentials” items, as well as wraps, braces and other recovery aids.

“The Everett Clinic is well respected and shares many of our values regarding serving patients and customers. The acquisition of these pharmacies allows both organizations to work together to strengthen their presence in Snohomish County,” said Bartell Drugs Chairman and CEO George D. Bartell. Bartell said the majority of the pharmacists and technicians formerly employed by The Everett Clinic have been retained in the transition.

“We are delighted to work with Bartell Drugs and offer our patients a more comprehensive pharmacy solution, said Everett Clinic Chief Operating Officer Mark Mantei. “The ability to coordinate care and fill a prescription right after a visit with your doctor while obtaining refills close to home or work should be a real plus for our patients.”
