Lots of choices for live music in Everett this summer

In addition to live music there are also vendors with food, flowers and more. Now while they did feature bluegrass and fiddle as a guy who hosts a morning show on the Everett country radio station, I didn’t notice any country music acts.

I also don’t see any in the line up for the outdoor series on the Wetmore Theatre Plaza called “Sets in the West Wednesdays” nor was there country music listed in the Thursday Waterfront Concert Series.

I did find rising country star Chance McKinney listed in the Saturday Waterfront Concert series so I guess its true that there will likely be live music for just about every taste in Everett this summer.

Should be great weather to be outside in Everett Saturday. The monthly Everett Art Walk goes from 4pm – 7pm on Saturday afternoon. More than a dozen venues will be welcoming people throughout downtown Everett. Click here for a printable map.

For something completely different, the annual Outrigger Canoe Races will happen on Silver Lake in south Everett. Viewing is free to the public and the first race begins at 8:00am. The official title of the event is Hui Wa’a O Puget Sound Canoe Club Sprint Regatta and you can learn more here.

Aaron Brooks is a former Merchant now playing for the Everett Aquasox

The 2013 Everett Cup is coming up this Wednesday June 13 at 7:05.  This annual game has the Everett Merchants taking on the Seattle Mariners minor league affiliate the Everett AquaSox.

In the game, the Merchants might face a familiar face as former Everett
Merchant, Aaron Brooks has been assigned to the AquaSox for the start of
the 2013 season.

Brooks pitched briefly for the Merchants in 2012 before being drafted by
the Mariners in the 26th round.  The Mount Lake Terrace native, pitched
collegiately at Gonzaga before transferring to Edmonds CC.

As a reminder to fans a portion of every ticket to the Everett Cup is donated
to the Merchants to help off-set operational costs…so don’t forget to

Thousands of people are expected in Everett on Thursday afternoon

The Washington State Patrol announced today that a public memorial service for fallen Trooper Sean M. O’Connell will be held Thursday, June 6, at 1:00 P.M. at Comcast Arena in Everett.

The service will be open to the public.

Prior to the service there will be a procession of family, law enforcement and other emergency responders that will originate at the southbound Smokey Point Rest Area, along I-5 at Milepost 207.

The departure time and exact route for the procession are still being determined, but motorists should be aware of possible traffic delays anytime after mid-morning on Thursday. More information will be provided as details are worked out.

Those who wish to honor Trooper O’Connell in the meantime can do so by bringing flowers or mementos to the WSP District Headquarters at 2700 116th Ave NE, in Marysville.
