2 Alarm Apartment Fire on 7th SE in Everett Displaces 29, No Injuries.

Editor’s Update June 6th 12:45pm: The Everett Police Department has released the following information on the cause of this fire…Officers respond to an apartment fire to assist Everett Fire with the scene. The investigation determines the residents attempted to BBQ inside since the deck was recently painted. The grill was left unattended when the residents went to the store. No injuries are reported.

Firefighters contained the fire to 1 unit.

There were no injuries when a 3rd floor apartment caught fire shortly after 7:00pm tonight on 7th SE just north of 112th near Silver Lake. The fire quickly engulfed the apartment and smoke and flames were pouring from the unit. As initial fire crews arrived the fire was upgraded to a second alarm. Residents were able to get out and alert the neighbors. Firefighters got a very quick handle on the fire and were able to contain it to the primary unit. No official cause for the apartment fire yet and an Everett Fire investigator is on scene. A cat from the apartment was rescued by a neighbor and another cat recovered by firefighters. A German Shepard who lives next door was also reunited with his owner who had been at work at the time of the fire. The Red Cross has been called to assist more than two dozen people who were displaced either by the fire or smoke damage. No word yet on a damage estimate.
