No injuries but a fire on a mobile crane shut down westbound 526 around 9 AM.

The driver of the mobile crane told MyEverettNews.com he noticed smoke pouring out from behind him and as he tried to change lanes flames began to shoot out so he shut the rig down and headed for safety.

The smoke plume could be seen for miles. The fire also spread from the crane to the shoulder and was contained by fire crews. One lane of westbound 526 reopened about 10:19 AM.
