Protests aren’t new around Xfinity Arena in downtown Everett.

There are strong feelings from lots of folks being expressed regarding Donald Trump’s appearance in Everett tomorrow.

In an article in Crosscut today, Peter Jackson, son of the late Senator and former Presidential candidate Henry M. “Scoop” Jackson, wrote…

“With Everett, local Trump troops wisely picked a community estranged from the Northwest’s Amazon-fueled gold rush. With surrounding Arlington, Sultan and Granite Falls, it’s a restive corner of Western Washington where Trump’s “tell it like it is” message, however freighted by scapegoating and code-word racism, finds a receptive audience.”

Also in the article Jackson includes the following…“I compare Everett to a wind tunnel,” said Democratic Snohomish County Councilmember Brian Sullivan, who represents a district that includes the city. “Economic growth is going on all around it, just not in it.”

On social media comments are sharply pointed in both directions…

“This is going to be so much fun. It’s going to be like a reunion of “washed-up Dukes of Hazard extras.”

“I’m going in hopes of catching someone trying to burn a flag and I’m bringing my bail money with me!”

“Odd. People who call trump and his supporters hateful bigots are the ones on here being hateful bigots.”

“Bahahahahha! He’s such a giant piece of crap, he has to hold his convention is Everett!”

“it’s absolute disgusting he will be spewing his hate in Everett!”

There are postings on social media for rallies both for and against his appearance in the area of Xfinity Arena. Today, Everett Police and city officials are meeting on security arrangements and planning to keep everybody safe.

The doors to Xfinity Arena are expected to open Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 PM and the event is set for 7:00 PM.

It should be an interesting event no matter what side you’re on.
