Fire Under Broadway Bridge Likely Arson

Engines block the Broadway bridge as fire crews access the fire from the railroad tracks.

Everett Police have detained one person after a fire under the Broadway bridge north of Hewitt at 8:00 this morning. Everett Firefighters had to access the fire in a small space next to the Volunteers of America building. Witnesses reported a man putting items onto the fire and then leaving as fire crews arrived. Everett Fire crews were able to get the fire out before it got into the building but there was exterior damage. Everett Police caught the suspect after a foot chase. No word on damage estimate and the entire incident is still under investigation.
