bigger fireworks show

Expect nearly double the amount of shells this year over last.

Expect a bigger fireworks show for the 4th of July in Everett this year. Today, MyEverettNews.com had a chance to speak with Heather Gobet, the fourth-generation owner of Western Display Fireworks.

This is the same company doing the 4th of July displays in Seattle and Tacoma as well as 200 other locations across the western United States. They’ve been putting on fireworks shows since 1948.

“The show is going to open to a Star Wars theme with special “Midnight Snow” shells featuring white strobes,” said Gobet. “It’s really spectacular.”

This year Western will use about two times the number of fireworks over last year including more six, eight and ten inch shells. New arrangements with the barge company and re-working of the contract led to a bigger fireworks show.

“We’re featuring a new supplier from Spain,” Gobet said. “It’s a serpentine with report with really vivid colors.”

The show is run by computer and set to music. It will begin at 10:20 PM over the north Everett waterfront.

Suggested Viewing Areas:

Legion Memorial Park – FESTIVAL LAWN – 145 Alverson Blvd.
Grand Avenue Park – 1800 Grand Ave.
The Port of Everett’s Marina District

Tune to Classic Country 1520 AM KXA for a radio simulcast of music to the fireworks.

Warning, no parking is available at Legion Memorial Park on July 4th so please take Everett Transit.
