Man Killed in Everett Home Invasion Attempt Identified

The man killed in a home invasion attempt at an Eastmont neighborhood house was identified as a 46-year-old from Arizona. Here’s the release late this afternoon from the Snohomish County Medical Examiner…

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office has completed the identification and examination of the 46-year old male who died in the 8700 block of Gothic Way in unincorporated Everett on June 25, 2016. The decedent is Wayne O. Williams of Phoenix, AZ. The cause of death is multiple gunshot wounds. The manner of death is Homicide.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Major Crime Squad is working on the case but no additional update since this first press release…

On 06/25/2016 about 4:55 a.m. Snohomish County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a 911 emergency call originating from the 8700 block of Gothic Way, Everett, Snohomish County, Washington to a reported home invasion burglary where one of the residents reported that they had discharged a firearm and injured one of the unknown suspects. Additional information offered by the 911 caller advised the suspects were unknown to the caller and had sprayed pepper spray after having kicked in the front door to gain entry to the residence.

Deputies arrived about 0501 hours and found a subject who had been shot at the home. He was determined by on-scene medics to be deceased. Unknown subject or subjects fled on foot. Currently, there is no suspect(s) description to disseminate. A law enforcement K-9 search was performed but no suspect(s) was located.

The occupants were cooperative with investigators. There have been no arrests at this point.

The deceased subject was released to the medical examiner to determine cause and manner of death and determine identification.

Guns were recovered from the scene.

Investigators believe this was a robbery attempt.

This is an on-going investigation and Detectives are requesting anyone with information to call the Snohomish County Sheriff’s tip line at 425-388-3845.

It will be up to the Snohomish County Prosecutor to decide whether or not to file charges against the person inside the home who fired during what is being called a home invasion attempt.
