The City of Everett’s longtime executive director for governmental affairs, Pat McClain, will retire from the City in March 2016. Mayor Stephanson has appointed Bob Bolerjack, current media and public relations liaison for the Snohomish County Public Utility District, to replace McClain.

McClain first joined the City in 1980 as the community affairs director, and has worked for four different administrations. He has served under Mayor Stephanson since 2004.

“Pat is a tireless champion for Everett,” said Stephanson. “We’ve had some great successes in recent years, and he’s played a major role in all of them.”

McClain was instrumental in bringing some of Everett’s most notable institutions to town, including Naval Station Everett, the Everett AquaSox and Washington State University North Puget Sound at Everett.

“Everett and all of Snohomish County have benefited from Pat’s passion for developing our region, and his longtime dedication to our community,” said Stephanson. “He will be greatly missed.”

For his part, McClain is quick to point to the teamwork behind the City’s accomplishments over the past three decades.

“We’ve been able to mobilize considerable community effort around initiatives like the Navy base and bringing WSU to Everett,” McClain said. “A lot of my work has been on the political side of the house, cultivating support, coordinating reports and making sure that we had the right people in the room.”

McClain will remain on staff to assist with the transition as Bolerjack joins the administration in January 2016. The incoming executive director for governmental affairs has more than 30 years of experience in the communications field. Prior to working for Snohomish County PUD, Bolerjack spent nearly 25 years working as an editor at the Daily Herald. He serves as the chair for the Everett Community College Board of Trustees and on two community advisory boards for Washington State University North Puget Sound at Everett.
