Silvertips say over $87,000.00 raised.

Just got the results in direct from the Everett Silvertips about the success of “Pink the Rink” this past Saturday night…

The Everett Silvertips (@WHLSilvertips) announced today that over $87,000 in funds were raised for their beneficiary, the Providence General Foundation, in the seventh “Pink The Rink” game at XFINITY Arena last Saturday.

Pink The Rink, presented by Providence Comprehensive Breast Center and The Safeway Foundation, drew a crowd of 7,311 fans to XFINITY Arena for a U.S. Division matchup between the Silvertips and Seattle Thunderbirds, using several initiatives associated with local fundraising for breast cancer treatment. All funds raised from the event benefited the Providence General Foundation, providing free mammograms for females with limited financial resources in Snohomish County and support for additional breast health activities.

The Silvertips wore pink-trimmed specialty jerseys for the game, awarded to winning bids from a silent auction held during the game. Auction winners greeted the respective player associated with their jersey bid at the Zamboni entrance of XFINITY Arena for an exclusive photo opportunity, immediately following the game.

The first 5,000 fans in attendance received commemorative “Pink the Rink” glow sticks and breast cancer survivors were greeted by members of the Silvertips starting lineup at center ice, shortly before opening face-off. XFINITY Arena’s in-game entertainment adopted a pink-themed pregame presentation and the Silvertips’ famed “Fanboni” adopted a pink-colored driver’s chair and modified vehicle logo.

“The signature event of Silvertips hockey, Pink The Rink, continues to achieve tremendous success and it’s a tribute to the affected individuals every day,” said Silvertips executive vice president and assistant general manager Zoran Rajcic. “We are extremely fortunate that fans of Silvertip Country continue to be extremely involved in a vital initiative and helping with the efforts of our local partners.”

To date, the Silvertips have raised over $587,000 for Pink The Rink, since the event began in 2009-10. The Silvertips defeated Seattle, 2-0 last Saturday behind Carter Hart’s 32-save shutout.

The Silvertips continue their four-game homestand on Wednesday, Oct. 28, in the only matchup of the season against the East Division’s Brandon Wheat Kings, led by defenseman and Philadelphia Flyers prospect Ivan Provorov. Opening face-off is 7:05 p.m. and radio coverage with Mike Benton and Al Kinisky starts at 6:30 p.m. (Fox Sports 1380/WHL Live).

Tickets for the game, presenting Midweek Madness, are available here. Green lower level seats are available on a “buy one, get one free” basis for just $10.
