A heads up from United Way of Snohomish County…

Registration for the 22nd annual United Way Days of Caring is closing Thurs., Sept. 3. As in past years, there are opportunities to volunteer throughout the county on both Friday, Sept. 11 and Saturday, Sept. 12. Days of Caring is the largest volunteer event in Snohomish County.

Volunteers are still needed for many projects in Everett and throughout the county in Bothell, Edmonds, Granite Falls, Lake Stevens, Lynnwood, Marysville, Monroe and Stanwood.

Project information can be found on United Way’s website www.uwsc.org/docvolunteers.php.

Tulalip Boys and Girls Club is looking for many volunteers to help with painting and landscaping projects. The center provides a safe and fun place for youth in the community, so these projects make it possible to keep offering a welcoming place for them to come. (Friday shift.)

EarthCorps needs help creating healthy wetlands at Union Slough in Everett and Edmonds Marsh. (Friday and Saturday shifts available.)

Friends of the Olde Everett Train Station in Everett needs help beautifying Depot Park in Everett. Volunteers at this unique location will help replace and paint wood, plant trees and other plants, and assist with general park maintenance. (Saturday shift.)

H3 Horses Healing Heroes in Monroe needs volunteers to help with cleaning tasks, restacking hay, and fence installation. (Saturday shift.)

All Breed Equine Rez-Q in Marysville, Catholic Community Services, Friends of Youth, Boys and Girls Club and Volunteers of America in Everett, Habitat for Humanity, Work Opportunities and YWCA in Lynnwood, Northshore Senior Center in Bothell, Sherwood Community Services in Lake Stevens, The N.O.A.H. Center in Stanwood, Boys and Girls Club in Granite Falls, and Wonderland Development Center in Shoreline still need volunteers as well.

In 2014, 700 volunteers participated in Days of Caring, giving over 3,000 hours at 35 nonprofit project sites throughout the county. The impact of this volunteer service time is valued at $82,000.
