While not part of the official detour of the Broadway Bridge replacement project many people still use the intersection of California and Broadway in downtown Everett. That option officially ends Monday as crews take over that entire area. Here’s the official word from Marla Carter at the City of Everett.

Utility contractor crews will close the intersection of Broadway Avenue, and California Avenue, around-the-clock beginning at 6 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, as part of the Broadway Bridge replacement project.

Signs will be posted advising motorists of the closure and southbound traffic will be detoured at Everett Avenue. Businesses located west of the intersection can be accessed from Lombard Avenue. Businesses east of the intersection can be accessed from McDougall Avenue.

During the closure, the roadway will be raised to match the new bridge and the roadway will be paved. The work is expected to take about 4 to 6 weeks to complete.
