This year the celebration of July 4th in Everett really begins on July 3rd. Every year the annual “Thunder on the Bay” fireworks show over the Everett waterfront is put on not by the city but a small non-profit group, The Everett 4th of July Fireworks Foundation. They began putting on the show after Salty Sea Days disbanded a number of years ago.

Sponsorships and grants from the hotel-motel tax help fund the fireworks but the more money raised, the bigger the booms over the bay. This year a new fundraising event, The Downtown Everett Block Party, is being added.

This Friday, July 3rd, there will be a block party in downtown Everett on Wetmore between Hewitt and California. It features food trucks, street vendors, live music and more. It runs from 5pm – 11pm and is family friendly with free hot dogs and pop for kids 10 and under. There is also a beer garden for the 21+ folks. The event is put on by the Snohomish Artist Guild. This looks like a great event to kick off the 4th of July weekend in Everett so come on down and support the annual Thunder on the Bay fireworks show.
