RV fire 1

The smoke column rises from behind Mattress City on Everett Mall Way.

No, Mattress City was not having a start of summer fire sale. There was however a massive column of smoke rising behind the store after an RV caught fire in a parking lot next to the business at 121 SE Everett Mall Way. The fire was reported shortly before 10:00am and the smoke could be seen from I-5 to the north and 112th street to the south. The crew from Everett Fire Engine Company 6 fought the fire and were met with some challenges from motorists who were so busy looking at the smoke column they were getting in the way of laying fire hose. A good reminder to not drive too close to the area if you see a fire as engines need a lot of room to operate. There were no injuries and no word on what started the fire. The owner of the RV was present at the time of the fire. Here are some MyEverettNews.com pictures taken from the scene. Click photo to enlarge.
