A toddler has been transferred from Providence Regional Medical Center to Harborview Hospital after an accident in front of Everett High School Friday night. Investigators on the scene tell MyEverettNews.com that shortly before 8:00pm a sport utility vehicle was southbound on Colby in front of the Civic Auditorium. The SUV had stopped for people crossing in a crosswalk and when the crosswalk was clear the SUV started south on Colby, that’s when a toddler opened the door of a mini-van parked just south of the crosswalk and darted into the path of the SUV. The driver of the SUV was unable to avoid hitting the child. Everett Police Spokesman Aaron Snell confirmed the driver of the SUV stayed on scene, cooperated with investigators and did not appear to be impaired. No charges are expected. The toddler was first taken by Everett Paramedics to Providence Colby Campus and after an examination has since been transferred to Harborview Hospital in Seattle. No word on the extent of injuries.
