Last April, Trinity Lutheran College in downtown Everett approached the city with a pilot project to allow 100 units of micro-apartments be built on the corner of Oakes and California and parking for the students would have been located a half block away in the parking garage at California and Wetmore. Now the real estate transaction has fallen through and Trinity Lutheran College is coming back to the city with plans for 56 rooms at a location more than a block and a half away to the north and across Everett Avenue in the 2600 block of Rockefeller Avenue. The college still wants to allow the parking dedicated to that complex to be within the current parking garage at Wetmore and California. Trinity Lutheran College will make a presentation to the Everett Planning Commission Tuesday night to explain the new proposal and outline the parking management plan including the reasons why the student parking will still work from that distance. You can see the current ordinance here. The areas needed change are highlighted in yellow. The public hearing will take place at the Everett City Council Chambers on Tuesday night, February 10th at 6:30pm. You can also watch it on Everett TV live on cable or from the Everett TV website.
