In a postponement from earlier this month the Washington State Department of Transportation announced it is closing southbound 529 between Marysville and Everett tonight (Fri 1/23) at 8:00pm – Monday at 5:00am. Here are the details…

Everett and Marysville area drivers should prepare for a weekend closure of the southbound State Route 529 Snohomish River Bridge

The closure starts at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26. Southbound drivers should use I-5 during the closures. Local access to Smith Island locations will be available via the 4th Street/Tulalip exit.

During the closure contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will continue to make adjustments to the new machinery installed as part of a special bridge repair project completed in October 2013. The new equipment is used to raise and lower the bridge drawspan.

In the Puget Sound area, drivers can get real-time traffic information on their phone with the WSDOT traffic app, by tracking the WSDOT traffic Twitter feed, and get advanced information from the What’s Happening Now page.
