K-9 catches car suspect

Teamwork, tips and a determined K-9 capture a suspected car thief.

A quick response by Everett Police led to the capture of a car theft suspect in central Everett Wednesday afternoon. According to Everett Police Spokesman Aaron Snell, a man was seen in the Safeway parking lot at 75th and Evergreen Way in a stolen Dodge Durango. When spotted, he left the Durango and began running north on Evergreen Way. A description was put out and several EPD officers responded to the area where the suspected thief was last seen. A resident of the Village by the Lake Condos reported seeing the man jump over a fence in their condo complex and a motorist on Morgan road called in to say the guy tried to flag him down for a ride. Officers were able to set up containment between Morgan Road and Carson Road and a K-9 team captured the suspect in the back yard of a house. The suspect was unhurt other than some scratches received running through blackberry bushes and other brush while trying to hide from the K-9.
