Marysville firefighters are debriefed at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett.

It is our worst nightmare but we were ready.” Those words from Joanne Roberts who is the Chief Medical Officer at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett after 4 patients were brought in after a shooting at Marysville Pilchuck High School. Roberts said in her first press briefing today that initially 4 patients were taken to Everett and after an evaluation, one with less severe injuries was sent to Harborview Hospital in Seattle. The 3 who were more severely injured were taken into the trauma rooms where more than 2 dozen doctors were waiting including surgeons and other specialists. “We train for this but its still hard because we have staff members whose children attend that school,” Roberts said. As of 1:30pm two students were in very critical condition in surgery and the third had just come out of surgery.

Everett Police sent patrol officers, supervisors and detectives to Marysville to assist in the investigation and crews from Everett Fire are covering aid and fire calls in Marysville. Crews from other cities are assisting Everett Fire in covering medic call throughout Everett until Marysville Fire gets back to normal staffing levels.
