The Everett Police Department is asking for help to identify a burglar who stabbed a boy.

At about 10:30 p.m. on August 26th in the 3100 block of Oakes Ave, an 11 year-old boy was walking into the back bedroom of his family’s apartment when an adult male walked out of the spare bedroom. The adult was a stranger and did not belong in the apartment. Without provocation, the male stabbed the boy with a screwdriver then grabbed him and pushed him into the kitchen. The male then demanded the boy’s mother, brother, aunt and uncle along with their juvenile daughter get into the kitchen. Once in the kitchen, the adults armed themselves with knifes and advanced on the male who threw a chair at them. The adults continued forward and the male backed to the front door and left.

The boy suffered a non-life threatening stab wound to his arm and was transported to Providence Medical Center – Colby Campus for medical attention. He has since been released.

The male suspect is described as white, thin, about 5’7”, in his late 20’s to early 30’s with blond hair. He was wearing blue jeans during the incident. The family had not seen the male before.

Officers searched the area but were not able to locate the male. It is believed he entered the apartment through and open window by removing the screen. Security surveillance video caught the male running through the apartment complex.

Anyone with information about this incident or knows the suspect is asked to call the Everett Police Department TIP LINE at (425) 257-8450 or Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound at 1-800-222-TIPS.
