Quiet Grand Opening For Everett Walmart
Snohomish County Executive John Lovick cut the grand opening ribbon for the Everett Walmart.
The new Walmart at the former Top Foods location on Everett Mall Way held its grand opening this morning. There were no big crowds lined up to get into the store and while Snohomish County Executive John Lovick was there, noticeably absent were leaders from the City of Everett. Walmart did present checks to the Everett Parks Department ($1000), Everett Police ($2500), Cocoon House ($1500), Cascade High School ($1500), Boys and Girls Club of Everett ($1500) and Northwest Harvest ($30,000). This Saturday there will be an event called “A Big Family Welcome” from 12 noon – 3:00pm where the public is invited to meet store employees, participate in family activities and get free samples from vendors. A group of protestors has also made public their plans to be at that event.
